Hi friends šŸ™‚ how’s it been? Things are finally starting to settle down over here. Man these past couple of months have been busy, but I have loved every minute! I’ll take a few breaths here before the holiday madness sets in. I just pulled out the boots and scarfs and it feels like I have a whole new wardrobe. The cold on the other hand is hard to get used to.

The meals I have been having, don’t sound as good and I can feel my body trying to hibernate.Ā šŸ˜‚ No I’m actually serious. I’m sleepier and hungrier, yano the whole bit. I’ve been craving hearty, hot meals and working out is just that much harder (especially when all you want to do is go home after work and snuggle into the couch with the pup.) Besides those two things, the change in season is actually really exciting! There’s a whole new set of fruits and vegetables to choose from and the crockpots are getting dusted off and there’s a whole new repertoire of recipes to choose from! Plus who doesn’t love Halloween candy, Thanksgiving feasts and Christmas cookies?! Ahhh I can’t wait 😬

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been thinking a lot about body image. It’s such a hot topic right now in the health-sphre. I love that women are lifting each other up and body shaming is becoming a thing of the past, but it’s also easier said than done. The other week, I posted a photo with my shirt off showing a little skin and everyone gave nice compliments about my ā€œsix pack,ā€ but what they didn’t know is that I had been feeling super bloated that day. In fact, I felt that way for the past couple of months. My schedule was off, I was living at home, stress was super high and I just didn’t feel good about my body. I had my mom take the picture at an angle and I flexed my muscles as hard as I could because I wasn’t about to post a photo of a tire tummy. But it didn’t matter if I have a six pack or not. Body’s fluctuate. There’s good days and there’s bad days.

For me, I feel better when I eat better. It’s as simple as that! I don’t work out because I have to; I workout because God gave me a body that could move. I don’t hop on the latest fad diet because I want to look skinny, I eat what makes MY body feel good.

I admire the bloggers that have been posting pics in swimsuits saying they will never have a six pack and are totally okay with it. Their bravery is what will change the way we think about ā€œhealth.ā€ I hope someday I can get there. In the meantime, I’ll try to stay as transparent with you guys as possible because I know it’s easier when you don’t feel alone.

I’ll hop off my soap box now and talk about these damn delightful protein bars. They got Nick’s stamp of approval, so I know they are good! šŸ˜‹

  • Oatmeal
  • Peanut Butter
  • Protein Powder
  • Maple Syrup
  • Cacao Powder
  • Rebbl Maca Cold Brew

6 ingredients and less than 15 minutes. That’s all you need! They are very easy to make. All you do is blend oatmeal in the food processor, until flour-like. Then add in the rest of the ingredients, excluding the Rebbl and blend on high to mix. While the ingredients are blending, slowly pour Rebbl Cold Brew in the top to help moisten the mixture. Once completely combined, place the mixture in a 8×8 pan and press the bars until they are packed tightly. Then place the pan in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to help form, cut into bars and package separately for a quick grab-n-go snack!

All the ingredients are pantry-staples (besides the Rebbl, which if you haven’t tried, I highly recommend it! It’s so tasty and GOOD for you! All organic ingredients, contains super herbs and fair trade certified. I’ve found it cheapest at Whole Foods (shocker, I know!) Just try it, it’ worth it!)

These protein bars are just a big bite of chocolaty, peanut butter goodness šŸ™‚ Enjoy!

*keep in fridge, good for up to 2 weeks
